A dermal filler is a natural sterile clear gel that is injected into the skin to replace the naturally present hyaluronic acid that is lost as the skin ages. At Brooklands Dental Clinic we use Teosyal, winner of the aesthetic medicines award 2008. It has been used for many years for facial rejuvenation making the skin firmer and to smooth out lines and wrinkles and boost tone. It is extremely safe with a low incidence of allergic reaction. There is a very small possibility of allergic reaction, which will be discussed with you when you visit the clinic for a consultation. You can expect some degree of redness and swelling after the treatment, which usually clears up within 1-2 days so we recommend that you don’t have the treatment directly before an occasion.

The filler is injected, usually without the need for local anaesthetic, into the worrisome lines to plump them out. The filler remains in the skin where it binds water to produce a lift and firmness to the treated areas.

The dermal treatment usually takes around 30 minutes and lasts up to 9 months. For lip enhancement, a local anaesthetic injection is usually given to remove any discomfort.
