Skin Peels
A Skin Peel or Chemical Peel is designed to refresh the appearance of your skin. A Peel aims to produce an exfoliation of the outer layers of the skin.
The skin removed can be superficial or deep. The more superficial techniques usually aim at giving the skin a "fresh, clean" look. Light freshening Peels can enhance the colour, texture, and smoothness of your complexion. However, they will not remove wrinkles. Intermediate to Deeper Chemical Peels are designed to remove deeper problems, including, stubborn pigmentation, acne scarring and deeper sun and age damage. The deeper the technique, the greater is the chance for complications such as altered pigmentation of the skin and scarring. You should discuss with your practitioner what you hope to achieve with your Skin Peel so that he or she may determine which technique is best suited to your requirements.
Various types of peeling agents are used to cater to all types of problems and skin types. Please note that as well as the face all peels can be carried out on any part of the body including the neck, chest, back, shoulders, arms and legs.
All peels are non-toxic and have additional beneficial effects on the skin. These benefits include;
- Improved blood circulation and lymph drainage
- Increased production of new and stronger Collagen and Elastin Fibres to tighten and firm the skin
- An increase in new and healthier cell production to replace the older and damaged skin cells being removed, making the skin brighter and clearer.
